If The Cosmos Wears A Beard

I frequently consider posting something here, but then don't, because I think, "Oh, everyone already knows that/has seen that." Then later I talk to people and discover that no, they hadn't know that or hadn't seen that.

I noticed when I saw An Inconvenient Truth that in one scene an urban legend was being perpetuated, but decided not to post about it because "everybody already knows about that." Then this weekend in casual conversation I discovered lots of people didn't know.

So here as a public service: frogs don't boil. Well, not unless you put the lid on the pot so they can't jump out. Or unless they're, like, already dead when you put them in the pot; but that would be totally cheating.
